The Computer Chronicles had a number of presenters throughout its tenure. The main presenters were Stewart Cheifet and Gary Kildall however various individuals also presented other parts of the show, including the review segment Random Access.

Presenter: 1983 – 2002

Presenter, producer, computer journalist, correspondent… Stewart Cheifet’s record is an extremely impressive one. But perhaps he is best known as the presenter of the Computer Chronicles, who for almost twenty years provided invaluable advice and reviews from the computer industry to the viewer. Mr Cheifet’s work on various projects has gained him many awards and wide recognition for his work. A graduate of the University of Southern California and Harvard University he also presented the series Net Café. Continuing to work on projects including bringing the Computer Chronicles and Net Cafe to an online archive that anyone can view, it is hoped that he will return to television and continue his successful career which has gained so many supporters.

Gary Kildall

Gary Kildall

Presenter: 1983 – 1990

A driving force behind the evolution of the computing industry, Gary Kildall co-hosted the Computer Chronicles for many years whilst running his own company Digital Research, Inc. Mr Kildall was well known for having a warm personality and this made him extremely popular both in the computing world and beyond. Just one his major achievements, Mr Kildall developed the programming language CP/M which led the computing industry to the operating systems we have today. Though tragically passing away in 1994, Gary Kildall’s legacy continues – his life and the positive impact he made can be best summed by the words of Stewart Cheifet:  “he was a genius and a gentleman, a rare combination”.

Other Presenters
George Morrow

George Morrow was a sometime presenter and commentator on the Computer Chronicles. Providing valuable advice and reviews, he also founded and was chairman of the Morrow Design company. Unfortunately Morrow passed away in 2003. Photo from 1985 edition of the Chronicles.

Paul Schindler

Paul Schindler is well known within the computing industry and has written many reviews for computer magazines. Schindler appeared on Random Access reviewing many products available for purchase. Photo from 1994 edition of the Chronicles.

Wendy Woods

Wendy Woods appeared on the Chronicles during the eighties and was apart of the regular presenting cast, reporting on many events and products which appeared in the series. Photo from 1985 edition of the Chronicles.

Giles Bateman

Janelle Stelson
